Keibul Lamjao National Park

The largest of all the phumdis floating on Loktak Lake covers an area of 40 square km. Located on this is the Keibul Lamjao National Park, the only floating national park in the world. The park is the last natural habitat of the endangered Sangai ~ the brow-antlered deer, which happens to be Manipur’s national animal. 

Indian python, sambar, barking deer, wild bear, Muntiacus muntjak, rhesus monkey, Hoolock Gibbon, stump-tailed macaque, Indian civet Viverra zibetha, marbled cat and Temminck's golden cat can also be spotted here. 

As many as 57 species of water birds and 14 species of wetland birds are spotted in Loktak, including several migratory waterfowl coming from different parts of the northern hemisphere. Then there are 425 species of animals.
